A Study on the Conversion Method Based on Standard Pedestrian Equivalent Factors at Signalized Crosswalks in China

Abstract In order to more accurately assess the pedestrian level of service (PLOS) crosswalks and rationally design signal timing, a method calculating standard equivalent (SPE) factors at signalized crosswalk in China was proposed this study by considering differences static dynamic characteristics amongst pedestrians. Firstly, pedestrians were classified into five types using field data collected 3 Chongqing, China. Then, parameters selection LOS crosswalks, SPE based on delays derived, calculation models presented for different arrival patterns. A case analysis conducted methods paper, results show that values minors, young middle-aged females, elderly males females 1.213, 1.067, 1.229 1.348, respectively. addition, in-situ application timing achieved. This research can provide reference practice related transportation fields such as capacity design.
